Professional standards and accountability
BLACKFILE measures the quality of its work by the reliability of material conclusions and their practical value for the client's decision.
Lawful purpose
An assignment is accepted only where there is a lawful purpose and a legal basis for the client's interest. Admissibility is assessed before work begins.
Independent conclusions
Conclusions are not adjusted to match the client's expectations. If the facts contradict the preferred account, the report reflects the facts.
Verification
Material information is checked against independent sources. A single uncorroborated source cannot support a material conclusion.
Separating facts from assumptions
Facts, analytical conclusions and hypotheses are labelled separately in all materials. The client can always see the nature of each statement.
Control of material conclusions
Findings that affect the client's decision undergo internal review: sources are reassessed, alternative explanations considered and completeness evaluated.
Access limitation
Project materials are accessible only to the team working on the matter. The more sensitive the matter, the narrower the circle of access.
Recording sources
The source and date are recorded for every material piece of information. The result can be checked, which distinguishes analysis from opinion.
Transparent disclosure of gaps
If information could not be established, this is stated explicitly. A clearly identified gap is more useful than a confident guess.
Responsibility for the deliverable
The report is designed for practical use: structured around the decision, with confidence levels for the findings and explicit limitations.
No guarantee of a predetermined conclusion
BLACKFILE does not accept assignments whose required outcome is to find confirmation. Our commitment is to a diligent, good-faith investigation, without a predetermined answer.
How these standards work in practice is explained on the page «How BLACKFILE works» . Permitted methods are explained on the page legal boundaries .
These standards apply to every project
Describe the matter in general terms. BLACKFILE will assess whether it can be accepted and propose an approach consistent with these standards.
