Debt Intelligence / Assets and debts

Debt Intelligence

Analytical support for debt recovery: a profile of the debtor, their assets and income, an assessment of recovery prospects, and support for negotiations and the legal process with facts.

01

Practical significance

Debt intelligence answers the creditor's main question - "is it worth it" - before spending on lawyers, and continues to work during the process: finding assets, tracking changes, and preparing a factual basis for each step of recovery.

02

Where it is used

  • pre-litigation assessment of recovery prospects
  • support of enforcement proceedings
  • cross-border debts
  • restructuring negotiations
03

What the term does not mean

This is not debt collection activity: no pressure on the debtor. The work involves handling information, while recovery is carried out by lawyers and bailiffs.

04

How it differs from «Asset Tracing»

Tracing is one of the tools within debt intelligence; the discipline itself is broader and includes the debtor's profile, strategy and support of the process. More about this term

05

Illustrative example

For a debt of several million, the assessment shows: the debtor's assets are pledged, but there are regular rental receipts. The strategy shifts from a one-time sale to enforcement against income.
