BENEFICIAL OWNERSHIP / CONTROL MAPBLACKFILE goes through the structure layer by layer, cross-checking registers, historical changes, corporate roles, financing and available contractual connections, to show who may own or control a company and how reliably each conclusion is confirmed.
If ultimate control cannot be established from lawful sources, this is stated as a limitation. A closed register or an indirect indication is not replaced by a confident assumption.
For an initial assessment, the company name, the purpose and the known structure are sufficient. Documents and personal data are not submitted at this stage.
A register shows a legally recorded link as of a given date. It may not disclose agreements between participants, financing, appointment rights, changes after the reporting date, or connections between several structures.
The task is therefore not to find a single name, but to build a chain with a source, a date and a level of confidence for each link.
BLACKFILE distinguishes between the registered owner, the ultimate beneficial owner, economic interest, contractual rights, actual control and an analytical hypothesis - and does not combine them into a single conclusion.

Understand who the business is actually being bought from and who needs to provide confirmations.
Establish who the obligations and reputational risks are connected to.
Close out the requirement to know the ultimate owner before releasing funds.
Connect the debtor to the structures through which assets are moved.
Show who actually makes decisions on the other side.
Check whether the chain leads to a person on sanctions or PEP lists.
Bring scattered and inconsistent data together into a single verifiable picture.
Understand what stands behind a change of participants on the eve of a transaction or dispute.
BLACKFILE works only with lawful sources: closed banking and government data is not requested, and closed links are explicitly identified in the result.

The register shows the position as at a date - the history of changes shows how the structure arrived at it
The diagram shows a model, not a specific client's data. Red marks the single material break in the chain. A dotted line does not indicate a hidden owner, but a connection that has not yet been fully confirmed
Confirmed by an official or documentary source.
Consistent with at least two independent sources.
Explains the combination of indicators but requires a qualification.
A direction for further verification, not published as a conclusion.
Each conclusion in the final map is assigned one of four levels. BLACKFILE does not declare a structure nominal and does not assert ownership of an asset without sufficient confirmation.
Each transition between links receives a source, a date and a level of confirmation. A link that cannot be closed with lawful sources is recorded as a limitation, not as a conclusion.
Every element of the map rests on a source and a date - the material is ready for compliance, an investor or a legal team.
Ownership Piercing Map: links, routes, the status of each transition and the single flagged gap, if any.
All identified participants in the structure, with share, role and the date as of which the information is current.
A log of sources for each link and a chronology of changes in participants, directors and addresses.
Financing, appointment rights, recurring representatives and public indicators of decision-making.
A list of confirmed, partially confirmed and closed links with an explanation for each.
What to request for further verification and a brief conclusion for compliance, an investor or a legal team.
The result is not a legal opinion. The conclusion does not extend beyond the available lawful sources.
Confirm the ultimate owner of a counterparty and document the basis for each conclusion.
Confirm before the transaction that no undisclosed party or unexplained center of decision-making stands behind the seller.
Obtain a map of ownership and control before extending financing or opening a relationship.
Rely in a dispute on a chain supported by sources and dates, not on assumption.
Connect the debtor to structures and identify where to search for assets further.
Verify the partners and structures in which family capital participates.

Задача. Before the transaction, the investor received a scheme with three companies in different jurisdictions. The formal chain was confirmed, but did not explain why key contracts, financing and appointments were linked to a person without a direct stake.
Результат. BLACKFILE identified confirmed links, indicators of economic control, and one segment that could not be closed using open sources. The conclusion did not declare the person a beneficial owner as an established fact, but gave the investor a risk map and a list of documents to request from the seller.
The examples are composite and do not describe a specific client. Illustrative image: the client's identity is not disclosed.

The format depends on the number of levels, countries and the depth of analysis of actual control.

Phased work on an international structure with coordination of local sources.
BLACKFILE does not obtain closed banking or government data, does not bypass registry restrictions, and does not substitute for a specialist consultant: legal qualification is provided by a specialist in the relevant jurisdiction.
Terminology and approach follow FATF guidance on the beneficial ownership of legal persons and legal arrangements. Ownership thresholds vary by country and are not transferred from one jurisdiction as a universal international standard.
A natural person who ultimately owns or controls the company - directly, through a chain of structures, or through contractual arrangements. The precise definition and ownership threshold vary by country, so BLACKFILE records the basis on which a person is classified as a beneficial owner, rather than applying a single threshold across all jurisdictions.
A director manages the company; a shareholder is registered as the owner of shares. A beneficial owner is the natural person who ultimately benefits or controls decisions, even without holding any formal position. These roles may coincide, or may be distributed among different people and structures.
Yes. The chain is traced through each country separately: registries, disclosures and historical records are cross-checked between jurisdictions. Data availability differs by country, so the map shows where the chain is confirmed and where it runs into a closed link.
A closed link is explicitly marked on the map as a limitation. Lawful paths remain available: requesting documents from the other party, local sources within the accessible part, and analysis of indirect indicators of control. A closed registry is not replaced by an assumption.
Through a combination of indicators: appointment rights, contractual arrangements, financing, pledges, recurring representatives, and public information on who makes decisions. Each indicator is assigned a source and a level of confirmation; an indicator of control is not equated with a judicially established fact.
Yes. The map, with statuses, a source log and a list of limitations, is provided to compliance, a bank or a legal team. Legal qualification for a specific procedure is provided by a specialist consultant.
The map reflects the status as of the verification date: each entry carries a date of relevance. When participants, directors or financing change, the picture changes accordingly, so key links are updated before a significant event.
Due Diligence answers a broad question about the company: operations, finances, risks, reputation. Establishing the beneficial owner solves one task - which natural person ultimately owns or controls the structure, and what confirms each link in the chain. The two services often complement each other.
At the first step, do not attach documents or personal data. The company, the objective and the known structure are sufficient.
