Connection analysis

A method for identifying and visualising relationships between people, companies, addresses, assets, and events in order to detect non-obvious connections and centres of control.

01

Practical significance

Individual facts rarely prove a scheme - it is shown by the combination of intersections: a shared address, a recurring director, matching dates. Connection analysis turns scattered records into a structure showing who is connected to whom and through what.

02

Where it is used

  • corporate fraud investigations
  • tracing of hidden assets
  • verification of ownership structures
  • identification of conflicts of interest
03

What the term does not mean

The existence of a connection does not mean collusion or wrongdoing. A connection is a fact - its interpretation requires context and caution.

04

How it differs from «Ownership structure»

An ownership structure is a formal scheme based on registers. Connection analysis also covers informal intersections: addresses, dates, common participants. More about this term

05

Illustrative example

Three "independent" suppliers are registered at the same address, and their directors previously worked at the same company as an employee of the client's procurement department.
